God gave us a guide book how to live. God gives us the answers to all the worlds daunting questions. God didn’t send us into this world without help to figure things out for ourselves. God gave us a very detailed description of the best way to live.
Oh I’ve heard all the cases of “but” about the Bible.
But ‘The Bible was written by fallible men’, yes it was inspired by God. I for one have faith that the God I believe in is powerful enough to keep false information out of His guidebook. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2Timothy 3:16-17)
But we should look to science and history. Pastor Gary Hamrick of Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg Virginia say “Sometimes it’s just a matter of science and history catching up with the Bible.” More and more discoveries with modern technologies are made to back up the events told in the Bible instead of disproving them. Yes, some of it requires faith. Believing in God takes a leap of faith. God doesn’t want us to just accept He is there as a matter of fact like gravity or grass or breathing. He longs for us to choose Him by choice because we want to believe.
He gave us a guide book than He gave us 24/7/365 customer service to double-check on what we read; it’s called prayer. Just call on His name and He is there. It’s an amazing form of communication that works wonders!
God’s rules aren’t arbitrary or wrong or even restricting. They are there for the same reason we set guidelines for our children. Disobeying rules has natur negative consequences.
If you are preaching anything that is contrary to the words of the Bible than it’s blasphemy. If you are taking a Bible verse out of context to prove your point it is blasphemy. If you are ignoring the parts of the Bible you don’t like it’s blasphemy.
“I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18-19)
Everyone’s experience with God can be unique, some of the Bible is open to interpretation. Other parts are very clear taken in context and if you feel the opposite is true, take a minute to look is this my sinful side interpreting the Word to make me happy or is this a valid interpretation.
The ONLY thing that makes a Christian verses not a Christian is the belief that there is one path to God, through Jesus. Jesus Christ came to earth to die for our sins. If we believe in Him and accept Him as our individual Lord and Savior then we are saved and forgiven.
I’m sorry some are offended by my beliefs. I’m not crazy about other’s beliefs and it is your choice to be a Christian or not. I want all to find the peace I have in God but won’t force it because if it’s not your choice it doesn’t count. I don’t care for people, especially so called pastors watering down the word of God, saying all paths lead to heaven. It’s blasphemy.
Everything after that is an individual journey with God. As with any relationship the relationship with Jesus should cause us to want to change, sin less, and follow God. Not because we are afraid of burning in hell but because we love and respect God.
Sexual sin of any kind leads to break down of the family and easily avoided pain. Divorce is painful and causes serious repercussions for children. Envy leads to hatred, segregation, theft, and murder. Eating eating foods the Bible lists as unclean leads to disease and parasites. Not cleaning before meals or after touching dead things leads to disease and parasites. Resting on the Sabbath isn’t arbitrary, it’s so we get rest, then we can be more productive, healthier and happier. Every single rule in the Bible is meant for the betterment of God’s people. Some maybe more important than other, some Jesus said no longer matter.
One last bee in my bonnet. If you are spending time in prayer and in the Bible and you feel a distance from God. Take a look at your life. If you can’t find God are there things you are doing causing that separation. For an example if I’m dating someone and I do things they have told me very clearly bother them, they won’t want to spend time with me, do for me etc. Same with God as I presue a relationship with Him if I continue to do things He says bother Him our relationship isn’t going to grow.
If you are reading the Bible and praying and it leads you to feel uncomfortable, uneasy, and unhappy you are probably living outside the will of God and the holy spirit is working on you. Unhappiness isn’t from God, bitterness is from God, contempt isnt from God. If you are living in those feelings as a Christian what can you change so you are living in the fruit of the spirit.
I’m not telling anyone where they are or what God is saying to them, I don’t know anyone elses heart. I know God is amazing very clear.
