“God is the giver of every good and perfect gift. If you look hard enough you can always find something to complain about that you don’t have.but if you will stop long enough to count your blessings you will be able to say like David did, ‘I shall not want.’ because I have everything with Him”
Pastor Gary Hamrick -Cornerstone Chapel
These words touched my heart. I’ve become overwhelmed. I’ve been concentrating on what I don’t have, what I feel is missing. I’ve been seeing how awful things are.
At the beginning of the year I hurt my back at work. It totally incapacitated me. I couldn’t work, drive, lift things, sit in a chair without pain. Worker’s Compensation started playing games denying coverage. Stopped paying. So I have no income, in constant pain, and can’t leave the house.
If I stop and look God has blessed me during this time. In so many wonderful ways. First not only have I not gone hungry I have started eating healthier. I have a wonderful place to live and I don’t need to worry about loosing the roof over my head.
Then there’s the amazing blessings that might not have happened if my back wasn’t hurt. I learned how strong I am. My best friend became my boyfriend, a relationship truly from God. If his children were my own I couldn’t love or care about them anymore.
I was encouraged to write on my friends blog. I believe God has given me a gift of words and a passion for God, my dear friend recruited me and it has been truly a blessing. Because I’m not working I have the time.
God blesses us in so many ways. It’s hard to see sometimes. God can take the worst moments and create diamonds. God is amazing in His strength and power. Using our mistakes, mis-steps human frailty to redirect us onto the right path.
God doesn’t cause the hardships. We live in a fallen sinful world and there is illness, deception, all things ungodly here and God works with those trails and tribulations to create a better Christian out of us, if we allow Him.
Psalm 23:1-3 CEV
You, LORD, are my shepherd. I will never be in need. You let me rest in fields of green grass. You lead me to streams of peaceful water, and you refresh my life. You are true to your name, and you lead me along the right paths.
