Political Overload

IMG_0340I keep reading about how all Christians love Trump, if you’re not dragon mad against him, you’re for him. I keep being told Christian’s don’t care about women because they don’t believe in abortion, being against abortion is for rapest. I keep hearing all Christians hate all of the LGBT community. I received notice that Christians are keeping immigrants from coming into our country, because I don’t want a complete open door policy I am starving refugees.  I was told today all conservative/fundamental Christians care about is politics. (Matthew 7:1-6) I don’t remember feeling or thinking any of these things so…I did some research:

According to Pewforum 70.6% of Americans claim to be Christians. Trump had 46% of the votings in America. According to PBSNews only 58% of Americans voted for either canidate, so approximately 24% of Americans voted for Trump. I know at least one athiest who did vote for Trump, so I’m going to assume there were non-christians that voted Trump, so let’s guess 4% of the Trump voters were not Christians. So basically less than 15% of the Christian population voted for Trump. I would guess half those voted against Clinton and not really for Trump. It doesn’t matter that a minority of Christians voted for Trump. Because Trump was elected president, Christians are being blamed for all his actions.

(Disclaimer: Before I go on, know I am NOT political minded.  I try to live by a biblical worldview and not a political worldview. When push comes to shove the following is how I feel only me, not all Christians, I’m not even speaking for my co-host Just Another Sinner.  I try to live by the Bible and be loving and kind.  I know there are two sides to every story and I can’t judge someone’s heart but if forced to draw a line in the sand; here is where I stand and a little on way….)

As far as women’s rights. I and most Christians I know believe in women’s rights. That is Christians believe and support woman to have the same basic rights as men. Women are not property, woman should be allowed to vote, same pay for the same job, women should be able to own property etc. Woman are allowed to do what they want, when they want, how they want with their bodies by law. If they are pregnant, the unborn child has rights too.

I don’t believe abortion is the same as women’s rights. Abortion is about a human life, an amazing unborn miracle. When Pharaoh instructed the midwives to perform abortion on the Israelite women, the midwives refused and God blessed them with children of their own. I know that it is a human life that I have no right to murder it. I believe this because my body protected my unborn child before I knew he was alive. My son, every child is a miracle. All life is sacred including an unborn childs. There might be an argument for cases of rape or incest but I still see the unborn life as worth saving. In extreme, exceptional cases a case for abortion could be made. The majority (not all but majority) of abortions are for mother’s convenience, having a baby would disrupt her life. (Exodus 1:16-22)

I feel for empathy for immigrants trying to escape thier country, especially refugees. It is extremely difficult to leave everything you have ever known, no matter how horrible that existence might have been. I’m not sure it’s helping them to bring them here when we have nothing to offer. According to Newsweek, “nearly 2.5 million children who, in 2013, lived in shelters, on the streets, in cars, on campgrounds or doubled up with other families in tight quarters, often moving from one temporary solution to another, that’s one in 5 children”. I’m not saying reject all immigrants, I am suggesting we deal with the families in the U.S. that are suffering first. It’s like having a full life boat and adding more people, the lifeboat will sink and everyone will drown. Our country is drowning, we have local children who go without dinner, children sleeping on street in our own country. What are you doing to help your neighbors here? Do you protest and stand up for them? Why are other countries children more important than our own? I could be wrong but that is how it seems to me. Yes, I desire to help all children and I do what I can personally. There other side is it’s not the governments responsibility to help the poor and needy, the churches and it’s members should be doing that. I know how my church helps and what I do to make a change, that’s what is important. Besides if our leader is so horrible and our country is a living hell, aren’t we doing immigrants a favor denying entrance. (1 Timothy 5:3-8, Leviticus 23:22)

Our entire healthcare and insurance system is crazy. I didn’t think Obamacare made healthcare better, infact it increased healthcare stresses for me. Before Obamacare I could afford insurance, after Obamacare went in place insurance premiums were too high. I made too much to qualify for government assistance but my income was low enough I qualified to be exempt from the tax for not having healthcare. I managed to keep my son covered but the amount of red tape and hoops to jump through tripled after Obamacare was in place. I have no clue if Trumps plan will make things better or worse. I’m going to wait and see. I don’t think Trump plans on getting rid of medicare, Medicaid or emergency family benefits (I could be wrong he hasn’t shared his sinister plans with me. I will let you know when he does.) I’m sure now I will be accused of I hating the elderly, the disabled and young children. I which is funny because I have two jobs, one as an in-home Caregiver for seniors and nanny. I make minimum wage caring for seniors, doing everything from basic nursing care to household chores. My nanny job is basically a labor of love, done for a family that needs some help.

The final hot topic: LGBT. I do believe any sex outside of marriage between a married man and woman is sexual sin. I believe God will forgive all sexual sin if someone repents and stops engaging in the sin. I believe a couple who share a bed before they are married are just as guilty of sexual immorality as two people of the same sex engaging in sexual activity and equal as guilty as a married person who has sex with someone other than thier spouse. All these sins are equal and forgivable. I’m guilty of sexual sin and can not judge anyone, my son’s father and I weren’t ever married. I get we are all humans, we fail and fall short of God’s glory but I accept what God defines as sin. This is a Christian issue, non-christians aren’t held to the same standards and we can’t expect Christian values from them, they don’t believe the same things are wrong. Once they become Christians the God will work on thier hearts. (Matthew 19:4-12).

I have no great love for Trump. I find him
loud and abrasive. I think he has enough love for himself that he doesn’t need my love. I can’t comment about what’s going on with politics these day, all the negativity and hate surrounding issues is disheartening. The misrepresentation of facts and finger pointing on both sides of the isle causes me to cringe with disbelief. I can say: not all that vote Republican are the same and not all Christians are the same.

I respected Obama even though I did not vote for him. I respected Bush all though I did not vote for him. I will honor the governing authority because I believe God us still God. I will show Donald Trump the respect he deserves as president of the United States. If I am wrong, God will judge my heart. (Romans 13:1-7)

Romans 13:1-7 NASB
[1] Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. [2] Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. [3] For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; [4] for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. [5] Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake. [6] For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. [7] Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
Leviticus 23:22 NASB
[22] ‘When you reap the harvest of your land, moreover, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field nor gather the gleaning of your harvest; you are to leave them for the needy and the alien. I am the LORD your God.'”

Leviticus 19:9-10,13-18 NASB
[9] ‘Now when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. [10] Nor shall you glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the needy and for the stranger. I am the LORD your God. [13] ‘You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired man are not to remain with you all night until morning. [14] You shall not curse a deaf man, nor place a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall revere your God; I am the LORD. [15] ‘You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor nor defer to the great, but you are to judge your neighbor fairly. [16] You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor; I am the LORD. [17] ‘You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may surely reprove your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him. [18] You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.

Matthew 7:1-6 NASB
[1] “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. [2] For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. [3] Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? [4] Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? [5] You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. [6] “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
1 Timothy 5:3-8 NASB
[3] Honor widows who are widows indeed; [4] but if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to practice piety in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God. [5] Now she who is a widow indeed and who has been left alone, has fixed her hope on God and continues in entreaties and prayers night and day. [6] But she who gives herself to wanton pleasure is dead even while she lives. [7] Prescribe these things as well, so that they may be above reproach. [8] But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Matthew 19:4-12 NASB
[4] And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, [5] and said, ‘For THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND the TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH’? [6] So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” [7] They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY?” [8] He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. [9] And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” [10] The disciples said to Him, “If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.” [11] But He said to them, “Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given. [12] For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it.”

Exodus 1:16-22 NASB
[16] and he said, “When you are helping the Hebrew women to give birth and see them upon the birthstool, if it is a son, then you shall put him to death; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.” [17] But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt had commanded them, but let the boys live. [18] So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, “Why have you done this thing, and let the boys live?” [19] The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife can get to them.” [20] So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied, and became very mighty. [21] Because the midwives feared God, He established households for them. [22] Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you are to cast into the Nile, and every daughter you are to keep alive.”
